Hospice Africa
This section will provide some points to consider if you are thinking about volunteering with HAU as an International Volunteer. These are only initial considerations
Passport
You will, of course, require a valid passport. Uganda requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your proposed date of entry into the country.
Visa
Visas can be obtained, from Entebbe Airport or the Immigration Office in Kampala.
Entry Documentation
On arrival at the airport, you will be required to complete an entry form for non-residents. These are available in the arrivals hall, and require completion before you pass through passport control.
International Student Volunteers; these are in their gap year or in their undergraduate medical or nursing training who come to do their elective postings.
These come to Hospice and stay for a long period helping out in the different departments at Hospice and the other branches up country.
Community volunteers are essential for the identification and support of those most vulnerable in the communities who are suffering from critical illness or are at the end of life. They give invaluable support to the patients, their families and their carers.
Clinical Day Care Volunteers, these support Hospice day care every Tuesday and participate in the different flea markets around Kampala but most especially the one that is held at the American Recreation Association every third Saturday of the month.
If you are interested in this kind of voluntarism either come to Hospice Africa Uganda any Tuesday and request to speak to the Volunteer coordinator who will interview you and then get back to you there after or you can download the application form, fill it, sign it then email a scanned copy to
